Approx protection ratio ;

33% Mix protects down to -20C

To make a 33% mix from Concentrated Anti-freeze ;

Pour 330ml into a measuring jug and top up with 670ml of water to make 1 litre

40% Mix protects down to -25C

To make a 40% mix from Concentrated Anti-freeze ;

Pour 400ml into a measuring jug and top up with 600ml of water to make 1 litre

50% Mix protects down to -36C

To make a 50% mix from Concentrated Anti-freeze ;

Pour 500ml into a measuring jug and top up with 500ml of water to make 1 litre

By the way you will get better summer cooling if you do not use a 50/50 mix in the summer .

Reduce it to 25% anti-freeze to 75% water { Distilled water if you live in a limey area }

Since the temperature in Scotland can dip down to below -25c , I use

Unipart Cool Blue Anti-freeze & Summer Coolant ;

Freezing Point -30c

5 Litre ;

Concentrate ;

Monoethylene Glycol protection for older higher mileage engines ;

Methanol & Nap free ;

Contains Ehanediol , Contains pure Ethylene Glycol ;

For Winter , I pour 450ml into a measuring jug and top up with 550ml of water to make 1 litre which makes a 45% mix suitable for temperatures down to around -30c
