{ Genuine AP Left Hand rear backplates are the only type available now for the Mini and have an extra hole, as per the Mini Metros, and take the same plug AEU1541A which is not supplied.
If you have GWC1101 as fitted to Cooper S etc wheel cylinders you can either drill a small locating hole in the backplate or remove the locating pin from the wheel cylinder.
Beware of copies promoted as genuine.
* A complete backplate with .75" bore cylinders (GWC1102) and brakes shoes are available as 21A1060KIT. *

REAR WHEEL CYLINDER ;
On the wheel cylinder , note the position of the locating peg and bleed nipple in relation to the brake pipe hole { sealed with the yellow plug } so that you get the correct one , as shown above .
The brake pipe hole thread is 3/8 by 24 UNF

Genuine AP rear wheel cylinder with 3/4"(19mm) bore Lockheed double piston type as fitted to all cars from 1970 except "S".
Includes bleed nipple, retaining clip and gasket.
Bleed nipple now 7mm spanner size but same thread-original 513118A used to be 6.2mm (1/4").

Also fitted on early cars to 1959-63 and mk2 mini 1967 on except cooper S and all Mk3 from 1970 on except "S". Quantity one per rear wheel and 2 required for car set.

You will need the paper gasket to fit between the rear wheel cylinder and the backplate.
It is sometimes not supplied with the wheel cylinder
Once supplied with genuine wheel cylinders , AP now seem to have discontinued this practice.

Bleed nipple for all rear wheel cylinders plus GWC101 and is 1/4" UNF thread.
Current wheel cylinders are using 7mm rather than 6.2mm (1/4") spanner size but same thread.

The following is a QUOTE from Minispares.com website ;
{ Genuine AP adjuster screw and wedges(cheaper than the screw on its own)
The rear brakes on all Minis have a simple method of adjustment.
A screw with 4 flattened nose points is threaded into the backplate.
As this screw is turned a pair of wedges are forced against the brake shoes,which expands the shoes against the drum.
This sounds simple enough and works well for a while.
The problems come from rust,wear,age and abuse!
The nose of the screw gets severe grooves worn into it, making adjustment very difficult.
Added to this is the corresponding wear on the wedges that work between the screw and the shoes. Also the adjuster screw no longer has a square head so your spanner/ wrench won't grip when trying to adjust.
Best solution?
Replace them with this kit; includes 2 wedges and a new screw for one brake back plate . }
