A&O Shearman Migration Workshop: Learning Beyond the Classroom
On Thursday 16th January, Year 10 students were provided with the exciting opportunity to visit a law firm, A&O Shearman. We participated in various activities with a particular focus on migration. There were professional lawyers who volunteered to assist and interact with us throughout the whole session. Many activities were designed to broaden our knowledge, allowing us to exchange perspectives and gain a deeper understanding of the central theme. These included case study analysis, group discussions and debates.
The case studies allowed us to apply our knowledge to real scenarios people are faced with, while the group discussions let us understand different perspectives. The debate enabled us to use critical thinking and planning skills. Working in teams during the activities helped us incorporate our communication skills, meaning we were able to plan more efficiently and collaboratively.
It was an enriching experience, offering valuable insights into law, ethics and human rights. Overall, the session was an amazing experience and very informative and enjoyable. Thank you Ms Ahmed for setting up this trip, we had a great time!
