Winter Concert 2022

The Winter Concert, our annual Expressive Arts event which takes place here at Westminster Academy, showcases a variety of music, dance, drama, art and food to the Westminster community and also to the students and staff here at WA. This year, the concert successfully took place on Tuesday 13th December to Wednesday 14th December, and I played the role of 'Lead Sound Technician'. This year the show was BIGGER and BETTER; it was a performance which held a key vocal point for the students here at Westminster Academy and produced an astonishing performance to end of our great year of 2022. The show embodied a spectacular set design created by the Y12 IB Visual arts students with instruments including guitar, bass, drums and piano played by a variety of students at WA which showcased the fantastic talents of our students.

The show began with a rhythmical jazz dance by the Y11 dance students to warmly welcome the audience. The show then progressed to a lovely dance to ‘One Short Day’ by the Y7 Dance Crew and further Y11 Music students performed a rendition of ‘Grenade’ By Bruno Mars which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Chakai Davies (Y11) recounts the night as his ‘favourite performance of all time!’. Chakai was a key individual in the performance alongside the production crew. Sami Shadman (Y12), who performed in the Sixth Form dance item explains how it was his ‘fourth year doing the show and the energy and effort this year was a key highlight throughout the whole performance and journey to the show’. Overall, the performance was thoroughly enjoyed with all audiences engaging and showing their amusement and thrill for the concert.

The cast and crew of The Winter Concert 2022 would kindly like to thank The Expressive Arts Department for their tremendous support and effort to create an amazing performance. It was the help from the Expressive Arts teachers which allowed us to produce such a valued and honoured performance. The cast would also like to thank the WA community for coming out and supporting the show, students and teachers at WA for being so supportive and advocating for this show!

Until Next Year!
