Djhenae Phiri (Y8): Girls football at WA

Every season, girls get the chance to compete against different schools. This year we have played against two local schools - St Augustine's and Paddington Academy. The players represent WA at each game and put in effort in training and in matches. We can be playing league games, where we have to compete for 1st place similar to a tournament, or it can be a friendly, where it’s less competitive.

So far the Y8 girls have had a successful season and earned some gold medals and a nice trophy for outstanding performance! They had great teamwork skills and passion in each game they played.

I think that being on the girls' football team is great and give opportunity because you can express your passion for the sport on the pitch. Going to girls football helps you socialise and meet lots of new people and make new friends whilst also developing great teamwork skills. Also, you can learn new skills and tricks and find new hobbies and have good fun.
