Roh Khaled (Y13): IBCP Business Unit 8

In the business world the recruitment and selection process plays an important role and as such one we study a unit focused on it. Students learn about the complexities of this process in Unit 8 by getting involved in real-world scenarios. One of this unit's distinctive features is the opportunity to design a comprehensive recruitment process, creating a job advertisement with a role description, person specification and application form. On the other side of the process we have to put together a CV and application for the job we've created.

The first step is choosing a business to focus on. Then we explore the particulars of creating recruitment documents that are specific to the job requirements of the selected company, this involves conducting a thorough analysis of the business’s requirements, determining essential skills and creating an effective job advertisement.

The goal in recruitment is to draw in qualified candidates who share the goals and values of the business. Crucial steps in the process include creating interview questions and evaluation techniques. It is crucial to have a diverse and inclusive recruitment strategy in order to guarantee equality and equal chances for each applicant. This section of the unit improves our organisational skills.

We all participate in a mock interview in both the role of the interviewer and the candidate. This experience not only enhances our understanding of recruitment and selection but also provides valuable insights into the challenges faced by both employers and candidates.

We had to design ten interview questions that efficiently drew out the information we need to know about a candidate. An in-class interview with a fellow student provides us with an opportunity to practise communicating our experiences, qualifications, and ability for the position. Equipped with the questions we have prepared, the interviewer evaluates our answers and offers helpful criticism on areas that need work. This practical method not only improves our interviewing abilities but also helps us gain a better comprehension of the difficulties that job seekers encounter in an extremely competitive environment.

The Unit 8: Recruitment and selection is a journey into the core of organisational processes of hiring people, not just a test of academic knowledge. We gain develop our skills in this unit because we get “real life experience” that goes beyond normal classroom lessons and prepares us for the difficulties of real world recruitment and selection process which can help us in our future employment.
