On 11th June, a group of students from Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 had the incredible privilege of serving as flag bearers at the final match between Australia and South Africa at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground.
We arrived early in the morning, full of excitement and anticipation for what was to come. Once we received our flags and positions, we rehearsed our roles carefully to ensure that the ceremony would run smoothly. Standing on the pitch at Lord’s, a ground with such a rich history, was truly inspiring. Although it was slightly nerve-wracking to perform in front of such a large crowd, I felt extremely proud to represent our school in such a significant way.
After the flag-bearing ceremony was complete, we were fortunate enough to stay and watch the final match. It was an incredible experience to witness two world-class teams compete at such a high level. Many of us supported different teams, which made the atmosphere even more exciting. Watching the players’ skills and techniques up close gave me a new appreciation for the sport and motivated me to keep practising cricket at school.
Overall, the day was an unforgettable experience that brought us closer together as a group and gave us memories that we will cherish for a long time. I feel extremely grateful to have been given this opportunity and I hope more students will be able to take part in similar events in the future.
