My name is Daniyah Mian and I am a year 8 student at WA and a Subject Prefect . I think WA English is amazing, and our lessons are informative.
Right now in year 8 English we are learning about ‘My Name is Leon’, and so far it is very interesting. It’s all about a boy called Leon who is 9 years old. Leon and his little brother are taken to foster care, when their mother, Carol, is not able to take care of them anymore, and are eventually separated.
I really enjoy this book because it is interesting how Leon struggles through everything, and at such a young age.
We will be analysing ‘My Name is Leon’, and look in detail at quotes and explain what techniques are included, and how it refers to the characters. We also explore how Kit De Waal (the author) demonstrated empathy and other emotions to the reader.
I really enjoy English because It's fun reading amazing new books and writing in different styles - whether it be creative writing, poetry etc.
However, my favourite is creative writing because I get to express my new ideas and write about horror, gothic non-fiction, and fantasy.
English is fantastic overall and can help you in the future to learn new vocabulary, share your own ideas, and know and understand everything which will give you an open mind set to learn and do new opportunities ahead. Without English, we wouldn’t understand anything in the world around us and I would say that English is the key to anything in the future. On behalf of this WA English is the best fun and engaging to.
