An unusually large asteroid, classified by some as a dwarf planet, rich in minerals and ores, the most precious of which is a large vein of adamantium.
It is for this reason that a Cthonian Mining Guild has taken up residence in the asteroid, braving the native bug-like creatures that infest the rock.

A large Agri-World with unusually rich volcanic soil, causing bountiful harvests; necessary to feed the worlds of the Hellas System and wider Cytarine Cluster. The delicate soil has to be rebalanced every decade or so to ensure its fertility, lest untold millions would starve.
When an advance force of the T'au Empire arrived in the system, it was Amphrite that they chose for their plans. Despite their small numbers, they quickly overwhelmed the local Planetary Defence Forces, capturing roughly 10% of the planet. Through the efforts of their Water Caste envoys, they ingratiated themselves with the locals, causing most in the occupied regions to view them as liberators. With few military assets, and in a bid to prevent more of the planet's precious agricultural land from being consumed by war, the planetary governor was forced to agree to a ceasefire. Under the terms of this ceasefire, the T'au were able to export crops to their own neighbouring systems, in return for not continuing hostilities; as a show of 'goodwill', the xenos also allowed a portion of the food grown in their land to be given to the Imperium.
