Born to the Wilderness - You were born in the wilderness and did not receive much socializing throughout your life. You do however have valuable survival skills.
You may only have access to your racial language at base, and cannot Read or Write.
You do not start with starting currency, and instead gain 36 DXP towards a Gathering profession.
You may have a starting set of “Inherited” equipment that covers your starting equipment, gained from parents, tribes, or stolen from passersby. It is of dubious quality.
Born to the City - You were born and lived in the city most of your life, receiving an education and skills to make you a productive member of society.
You may have access to an additional language.
Gain 14 DXP towards a Production profession.
You have an additional 50 Lunans of starting currency
Born on the Roads - You were born to traveling parents or nomads. You mingled in many cities but never stayed in one place for long.
Once per Encounter you may bid “Ananke Traveler Lore” to Staff to ask a question.
You may always bid Good or Bad luck regardless of if you have it or not. If you bid good luck, you must then bid Bad Luck at the next opportunity and visa-versa.
You may start with a single Uncommon Loot Card.
Born to the Occupation - You were born into the occupation, fully ensconced in the “White Zones” from a young age and taught of the savagery and depravity of those outside the walls.
You may start game with a single piece of Drosian technology, and an Occupation ID
Once per Encounter you may bid “Occupation Culture Lore” to Staff to ask a question.
Gain +1 Reputation Rank with The Occupation, it will not affect your other Reputations.
Born to the Crags - You were born to the hidden societies of the Crags, ensconced in the unique culture of survivalists and magic users hidden therein. You likely have never seen life above the Rim.
You may not start with Ananke Common, and instead may pick up a second Racial Language.
You do not start with starting currency, and instead gain 3 Rare Loot Cards, 3 Uncommon Loot Cards, and 3 Common Loot Cards.
You may start with up to Level 1 Magic Spells, or 1 Rare Loot Card.
Offworlder (Restricted) - You were born in a place entirely removed from Ananke. You may play Races or Bloodlines from other Books (Such as Book I). Offworlders do not have specific boons.
New characters start with 4 Boon Points. They may give up to 2 Boon Points to another player they are coming in-game with. Boons chosen should fit the backstory of the character.
Experienced (2 BP) - Gain an additional Skillpoint that can be used towards skills. Can only be bought twice.
Skilled (2 BP) - Gain an additional 7 DXP that can be used towards subclasses
Rich (1 BP) - Gain an additional 25 Lunans of starting currency
Connected (2 BP) - Gain an additional positive rank of Reputation with a Faction. Cannot be applied to the same faction twice.
Literacy (1BP) - You may Speak, Read, and Write another Language
Folk Hero (4 BP) Due to a series of events, your character is known as a hero to a people, and known far and wide through stories. Can only be bought once.
Significant Person (1 BP) Your character has a position, connection, or experience of importance. Examples include being secretly a prince or princess, having a very wealthy family, or being leader of a band or group. Can only be bought once without staff approval.
Detriments may be taken to add flavor to a character, and reward new characters for taking on negative penalties that limit or create opportunities for Roleplay. Detriments should fit the backstory of a character.
Green (1 BP) - Lose a starting Skillpoint.
Unskilled (1 BP) - Lose 7 DXP from your pool. Can only be bougth twice.
Poor (1 BP) - Lose 25 Lunans from your Starting Currency. Can be bought Four Times.
Slighted (1 BP) - Gain an additional Negative rank of Reputation with a Faction.
Illiterate (1 BP) - You may lose access to a lanugage you might otherwise have access to.
Infamous (2 BP) - Due to a series of events, your character is known as a villain to a people, and known far and wide through stories. Can only be bought once.
Hideous Scarring (1 BP) - Hideous Scars or Injuries disfigure the character in an obvious or crippling place. Can only be bought once.
Offputting (1 BP) - You start all reputations at one step lower, and it will be harder to raise reputations. Can only be bought once.
Unfortunate Soul (1 BP) - You must always bid Bad Luck when staff ask for Good or Bad Luck. Can only be bought once.
