At Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (PSA), the available land surrounding departmental buildings has been effectively utilized by students for educational and environmental purposes. These areas are developed into mini green zones where students plant landscape trees, ornamental plants, and educational tree species related to the Wood-Based Technology program. Through these activities, students gain practical experience in tree planting, landscape management, and sustainable resource use, which strengthens their technical and ecological knowledge.
This initiative not only enhances the aesthetic value of the campus but also contributes to environmental sustainability by increasing green cover and improving air quality. The planted trees provide shade, reduce heat, and create a more comfortable and conducive learning atmosphere. Moreover, these projects promote environmental awareness among students and staff, fostering a sense of responsibility toward nature. The collaboration between academic learning and green practices makes PSA a living laboratory for sustainability education, aligning with the principles of SmartGreen and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
