Polytechnic Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (PSA) has implemented various green building elements that emphasize sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental stewardship. Among the key initiatives are the “We Share, We Care” carpooling campaign and the “Green the City, Take Public Transport!” program, both designed to reduce private vehicle usage on campus. These efforts not only decrease traffic congestion but also significantly lower air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, PSA imposes parking charges for private vehicles to further encourage the use of public transport and carpooling. The campus also integrates renewable energy sources into its electricity supply, reducing dependence on non-renewable grid power and supporting a cleaner energy transition.
Complementing these energy and mobility initiatives, PSA actively promotes green landscaping and waste management through programs such as the “Green Our Campus” 50 Tree Planting initiative and compost waste planting activities. These efforts enhance campus biodiversity, improve air quality, and promote a culture of environmental awareness among students and staff. The composting of organic waste into usable soil further supports the circular economy, minimizing waste sent to landfills. Collectively, these initiatives reflect PSA’s holistic approach to green building implementation — blending sustainable transportation, renewable energy use, and ecological landscaping — in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 13: Climate Action).
