Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (PSA) was recently recognised for its vital role in advancing urban sustainability at the Strategic Partners Appreciation Dinner, held in conjunction with the Shah Alam Urban Forum (SAUF) 2025. Represented by Dr Sulaiman bin Mohammed Khalid, PSA was proudly celebrated as a key strategic partner of the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), underscoring the strong collaborative efforts between the polytechnic and the municipal government in driving the Low Carbon Cities Challenge. The event, which honoured various agencies and institutions contributing to the city's development, was officiated by the Mayor of Shah Alam, Y.Bhg Dato' Haji Fauzi bin Haji Mohd Yatim. This acknowledgement reaffirms PSA's commitment to extending its SmartGreen initiatives beyond the campus, ensuring alignment with MBSA's environmental goals, and cementing its position as a proactive agent in creating a more sustainable and resilient Shah Alam.

SmartGreen's commitment to sustainability was prominently highlighted during the October 2025 Monthly Staff Meeting, where the organisation's efforts in environmental stewardship and its institutional ranking were celebrated. The highlight was the presentation of the Monthly Green Award, which honoured staff members who exhibited exceptional dedication in key areas of sustainability.
For September 2025, commendations went to MAHMUD BIN SELAMAT for Energy Management and MASWIRA BINTI MAHASAN and AHMAD FAKARUDDIN BIN MOHD FAUZI for Water Management.
The October 2025: NURUL AKMAR BINTI KAMARUDDIN and MOHD SAFARI BIN JAAFAR for Energy Management, MAISHARAH BINTI OSMAN for Waste Management, and SUZLIANA BINTI MARSOM for Green E-Procurement Management.
The meeting also included strategic planning and recognition related to the submission for the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking (UIGREEN 2024). It specifically acknowledged the significant contributions of NOR ZARINI BINTI ISMAIL and RAHIDA BINTI RAMLI in data preparation and coordination, highlighting PSA's commitment to maintaining global sustainability standards.
Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah has achieved a major milestone in global sustainability by being ranked as the 1152nd World's Most Sustainable University in the prestigious 2024 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. Announced on 12 December 2024, this achievement reflects PSA's unwavering dedication to integrating environmental best practices across all operational, educational, and research thrusts, including energy management, waste reduction, water conservation, and green e-procurement. The ranking serves as a powerful validation of the SmartGreen programme's effectiveness and the collective efforts of the entire PSA community, positioning the institution among leading global bodies committed to forging a more sustainable future.
