Operation Theatre Technology 

The role of an Operation Theatre (OT) technician is of significant importance as they provide assistance to various medical professionals, including Surgeons and Anesthesiologists, during surgical procedures. It is expected that an OT technician possesses comprehensive knowledge regarding the functioning of various systems utilized during operations, such as Ventilators, Cardiac Monitors, and Surgical Equipment, among others.

In addition, an OT technician should possess certain essential qualities, including the ability to work under pressure with composure, adequate training in all aspects of OT operations, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and good physical fitness and high levels of concentration.

The individual in this role is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of an operating theatre and its equipment, as well as providing assistance to the surgical team during operations. Additionally, they provide support to patients in the recovery room and ensure that all necessary supplies and surgical tools are sterile and ready for use. This position typically involves participation in several surgical procedures each day and requires collaboration with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers to deliver suggested healthcare services. Furthermore, the individual must handle, package, label, store, transport, and dispose of waste appropriately to minimize the potential for contact with the waste and reduce the risk to the environment from accidental release.

Prospective students may pursue 12th grade studies in the field of Science, with a recommended emphasis on Biology. Upon completion, they may then proceed to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Operation Theatre Technology. Subsequently, students may choose to further their education by pursuing a Master of Science degree in Operation Theatre Technology. Alternatively, students may opt to complete a Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology (OTT) after their 12th grade studies.
