They conduct human trials, scrutinize and validate clinical and pharmacological factors, and analyze adverse effects based on the data collected. They maintain meticulous records of study activity, including case report forms, drug dispensation records, and regulatory forms, and monitor study activities to ensure compliance with protocols. They prepare study-related documentation, such as protocol worksheets, procedural manuals, adverse event reports, institutional review board documents, and progress reports. They liaise with laboratories or investigators regarding laboratory findings. They review scientific literature, attend conferences and seminars to stay abreast of current knowledge of clinical studies affairs and issues.

There exist two distinct career paths for individuals seeking to pursue a profession in clinical research. The first path entails the completion of 12th grade with a focus on Biology, followed by the attainment of a B.Sc. in Clinical Research. Subsequently, one may proceed to obtain an M.Sc. in Clinical Research, and ultimately a Ph.D. in Clinical Research.

The second career path involves the completion of 12th grade with a focus on Science, specifically Biology. This is followed by the attainment of a B.Sc. in Life Sciences, and subsequently, the completion of a Post Graduation Diploma in Clinical Research.
