Home science deals with the science of food and how to use resources efficiently in the home. It studies all the home-related resources used by family members, such as food, nutrition, clothing, and hygiene. The ultimate goal of home science is to improve the quality of family life.

Home science is a combination of science and art. It aims to provide maximum satisfaction for the person and their family members through the efficient and scientific use of resources. It gives the person all the knowledge of the scientific procedures involved in making a home beautiful.

• A dietitian plans diets or guides individuals or families in food selection, preparation, or menu planning, based on nutritional needs.

• A caregiver administers bedside or personal care such as personal hygiene assistance.

• A food safety technician maintains food safety and standards.

• A home maintenance technician schedules home maintenance and repair work.

• A textile technician works with clothes, fabrics, metals, textiles, etc.

• A textile designer develops fabrics for clothing and textiles.

• After 12th, you can pursue a B.Sc. in Home Science.

• After B.Sc., you can pursue an M.Sc. in Home Science, M.Phil./Ph.D. in Home Science, or a PG Diploma in Home Science.
