The wind was very loud that morning, I hate the cold weather. I got up from my soft and full of stuffed animal bed and headed out to the bathroom, the cold floor made my bear feet feel freezing cold so I got undressed and hopped in the shower, I love when the hot water hits my back it makes me feel safe in some type of way. After the shower I wrap myself in my towel and jump on my bed, I like looking at my ceiling and just think about anything, boys, school, music, my life in general.
”Mija apurate y ven a ayudarme a preparar el desayuno” my mom yells at me from down stairs,
”Okay mami” I replied, damn now I actually have to get up.
I put on my favorite baggy joggers and my favorite hoodie that is way too big for me and headed downstairs to the kitchen.
”Finally you are here, you'd think with all that time you take you would at least look presentable”,
”Okay ma” I reply softly so she doesn't say I talked back or something.
Why do Mexican moms do that? Like they say something mean about us and we just try to defend ourselves but oh noooo we are talking backkkk, seriously woman that makes no sense at all.
I´m putting the bowls of frijoles on the table when my mom tells me to go wake up my brother. Oh boy my brother. He is un huevon, does nothing around the house but make it a mess, but oh guess who gets to go anywhere they want whenever they want, yep that's right, him. I'll never get how I clean, I cook, I do my homework and get passing grades, how I do all that and yet I cannot go outside for a WALK.
Once my brother, mother, and I finished eating I picked up the dirty dishes and washed them, after that I cleaned the entire house because lord knows if I don't I will get yelled at.
Okay. I actually really enjoyed this memoir because it describes perfectly a Hispanic household. The part where she mentions ¨”Mija apurate y ven a ayudarme a preparar el desayuno” my mom yells at me from down stairs¨ I related to this piece a lot because that is exactly how mom mom would yell at me to go help her or to get my attention. Although I think my favorite part of the memoir is when she mentions ¨I put on my favorite baggy joggers and my favorite hoodie that is way too big for me¨ I 100% agree this is every girl when their mom calls them down, you have to hurry and put something on before she yells at you a second time. I enjoyed it made me think about my household and noticed how similar our moms are.

I chose ¨Girl¨ by Luz Del Valle because the theme and the front picture called my attention. It is about what she do during a normal day in the morning and her Mexican mother. I feel a lot of connection with this writing because i have a Mexican parents too. I think my mornings will not be the same if they would not have them. I describe my mornings like the most crazy thing in my life and i swear that i don´t have something more cool than that.
