So I want to talk about the importance of music, I’m not here to deliver some weird hot take, I just kinda wanted to talk about this. Music...has the power to alter your mood, for example classical relaxes me and gives me less anxiety, and yes I listen to classical, big shocker. My point being, music has a lot of power over you, let’s say you’re in a room with nothing but a chair and some headphones, and you listen to...rap music, and it gives you a lot of energy and you feel pumped up...but for what? Nothing in particular, right? You only feel pumped up because you were absorbed by the music...right? Now let’s say you listened to this right before taking a math test, you go in there with confidence which might affect how you actually did, and all because of one song. Another example, you went through a bad breakup and listen to a song about heartbreak, you know you’re not alone and that can give you hope, but there’s the opposite side of the spectrum where you can listen to something uplifting and you feel hope again, but a different kind of hope, a hope that maybe, just maybe...things will get better. As I am writing this, I’m listening to Clair De Lune, a classical yet somber piece, and this song alone makes me feel...at home, like I’m at peace with the world, and for one song by one person to have that affect on me is...kind of magical in a way that’s hard to explain.
Your essay was very interesting because both me and a lot of people like to listen to music and if music helps us a lot to de-stress because for all that it handles many types of emotions, music gives many ways to express a feeling.

My favorite details from the essay were how the author explained how different genres of music affect you. This piece made me think how music is very complex since it can change your mood with just sounds.

Your essay is very intriguing and compelling. I personally like the topic at hand that of course being the effect that music has on an individual.
