Theseus in the labyrinth
With the ball under his robe, Theseus and the other young men set off for the Labyrinth. He tied the thread at the entrance and proceeded to unravel the tangle. But as they proceeded, the beast smelled them and began to murmur. Then Theseus stopped the others and went on alone.
The battle
Soon he saw the beast that was about to tear the children apart. But the hero lost no time, and rushed up and seized it firmly by the horns. The beast was startled, but quickly recovered and tried to escape. They struggled for hours until the monster buckled and fell down. And then Theseus, without wasting time, killed it.
He then took the ball and began to wind it up. Soon he found the other fourteen and slowly they came out into the light.
They are happily breathing in the fresh air, feeling that they are alive, because they have escaped. They returned to the palace where Minos welcomed them, for he admired Theseus' bravery.
