Who was the hangman? What was his relationship to Aeneas of Troy?
Anchisis was a handsome young shepherd, who lived on the slopes of Mount Ida. One day, the goddess Aphrodite saw him and was fascinated by his beauty.
She transformed into a beautiful mortal girl and approached him. Anchises immediately fell in love with her without knowing her true identity.
Aphrodite and Anchises spent beautiful times together and from their union a beautiful child, Aeneas, was born. Aphrodite revealed her true identity to Anchises and told him that their child would become a great hero and asked him never to reveal to anyone that he had loved a goddess, for this would bring great punishment. Achishis promised.
Aphrodite, wanting to protect her son, entrusted him to the nymphs of Mount Ida, who raised him with love and affection. The nymphs taught Aeneas how to be brave and wise, taught him the arts of hunting and warfare, as well as the knowledge of nature and the gods.
When Aeneas grew up, he returned to his father, Anchises, to take care of him. Aeneas had become a strong and wise young man, ready to face the challenges of his life and become a great hero.
One day, however, Achisis forgot his promise and revealed the secret. He was immediately struck by a bolt of lightning from Jupiter, which caused him to lose his strength and walk with difficulty. Nevertheless, Aeneas always looked after his father with love and respect.
In the Trojan War, Aeneas was one of the greatest heroes of Troy. When the city was destroyed, Aeneas fled, carrying Anchises on his shoulders to protect him.
Together, they travelled to many places and had many adventures, always under the care and protection of Aphrodite, finally arriving in Italy. There, Aeneas founded a new state and became king himself.
