The journey of the Argonauts
How was their trip?
And who is the Phineas they went to meet?
Let's look at the beginning of their adventure.
The Sin of Phineas
Phineas had committed a great sin by revealing to the people in detail all of Zeus' plans. This angered Zeus and punished him.
The Blindness of Phineas
First, Zeus fired his thunderbolt and blinded Phineas. But this did not stop Phineas from continuing his work as a blind soothsayer.
The Harpies
Then Zeus sent to the lands of Phineas the Harpies, five mythological beings with the body of a bird and the head of a woman. They grabbed Phineas' food whenever he was about to eat.
The Invocation of the Heroes
The Argonauts went and begged Phineas to divine the future for them. Phineas told them that he would tell them if they killed the Harpies.
The Battle of the Harpies
The Argonauts grabbed their bows and killed the Harpies who were coming down to grab Phineas' food.
The Guidance of Phineas
The oracle Phineas then rushed them to the next obstacle they would encounter, the huge rocks that were rapidly opening up.
The Tip of Phineas
Phineas advised them not to hurry through, but to send a dove first. If the pigeon got through, then as soon as the rocks opened up, they were to pull the paddle hard and they would pass.
The Crossing of the Argonauts
Following Phineas' advice, the Argonauts managed to safely cross the Convoluted Stones.
