Aphrodite
In an enchanting garden full of colourful flowers and green trees, lived the beautiful goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite. Aphrodite, with her golden hair shining in the sun and her eyes sparkling like the stars of heaven, was the most beautiful goddess of Olympus. Everyone loved and admired her.
Myra
Adonis, on the other hand, was not an ordinary child. He was the son of Myra, a princess of Cyprus. The story of his birth was dramatic and sad. Myrrh had committed a great sin and her father, King Kynyras, was hunting her to punish her. Myra, frightened, ran into the forest and prayed to the gods to save her
Birth of Adonis
The gods, hearing her prayers, transformed her into a Myra tree, and from the trunk of the tree was born Adonis, an extremely handsome young man whose beauty surpassed all imagination.
Adonis grows up
When Adonis was born, the gods realized his exceptional beauty and decided that it would not be safe for him to grow up as a mortal. So Aphrodite, who had already begun to feel sympathy for the boy, took him and hid him in a safe place - her enchanted garden. There, Adonis grew up protected from the world and its vices.
Aphrodite - Adonis
As the days passed, Aphrodite and Adonis spent more and more time together. They wandered in the garden, played with the animals and enjoyed the beauty of nature. They became inseparable friends and Aphrodite taught him about the secrets of love and nature.
The evil
But, as in every beautiful story, there was a danger. Ares, the god of war, was jealous of Adonis because he had won the heart of Aphrodite. One day, while Adonis was hunting in the forest, Ares transformed himself into a wild boar and attacked Adonis. Adonis was seriously injured and Aphrodite, hearing his cries, ran to him.
The death of Adonis
With tears in her eyes, Aphrodite held Adonis in her arms and prayed to the gods to save him. But fate had other plans. Adonis breathed his last breath in the arms of his beloved. From Aphrodite's tears and Adonis' blood, a beautiful flower, the anemone, blossomed.
Aphrodite promised to always remember her beloved Adonis and every year, when the anemones bloomed, she knew it was nature's way of reminding her of their love. And so, the story of Adonis and Aphrodite lives on through the beautiful flowers and enchanting stories we tell our children.
