Arethusa
In a magical forest of ancient Greece, there lived a beautiful nymph named Arethusa. She was known for her beauty, but also for her love of nature. The birds sang for her and the trees lifted their branches to greet her.
Arethusa - Alpheus
One day, as Arethusa was walking by a river, she felt a strange sensation following her. This river was none other than the Alpheus, a mighty river god who had fallen in love with her from the first moment he saw her. Arethusa, however, was frightened and began to run, trying to escape from the stubborn river.
Invocation to Artemis
Running through the forest, she begged the goddess Artemis to help her. The goddess, hearing her prayer, turned her into a spring so that she could hide and escape from Alpheus.
Spring
Her tears, as she transformed, formed a spring of fresh water that gave life to the whole forest.
Underground river
But Alpheus did not give up. He turned himself into a river and managed to join the source of Arethusa, creating an underground river that connects the two forms. Since then, the Arethusa spring has become a symbol of eternal love and natural beauty.
And so, every time one visits this spring, one can hear the gentle whisper of the water and feel the presence of Arethousa and Alpheus, united forever.
