Clouds Team

日本語

We study the Kasa clouds, Tsurushi clouds, and Hata clouds that occur downwind of Mt. Fuji. These are the typical type of clouds generated by the mountain.

Diverse research methods

There are still many unanswered questions about the mechanisms of Kasa clouds, Tsurushi clouds, and Hata clouds. Now, thanks to improved technologies such as live cameras and numerical models, we are able to confront the unknowns.

We use state-of-the-art technology to conduct research from a variety of approaches: observation, statistical analysis, and numerical simulation.

Constant observation of clouds by live camera

Business trip near Mt. Fuji

We sometimes travel to nearby Mt. Fuji to install and maintain the live cameras used for observation.

While properly conducting the work and task, we also enjoy good gourmet of food and fun!

We did get to see Kasa cloud while on a business trip!

We enjoyed a kaisen-don (a bowl of rice with sashimi on top).

If you are interested in clouds and mountains and wants to clarify the mechanism of the phenomena, or if you want to be healed by beautiful clouds and nature while working hard on your research, join us. And if you like to drive or travel, we welcome you too!

When visiting Mt. Fuji, please keep in mind not only the mountain itself, but also the clouds that surround it.
