Observation Group

日本

The Observation Group provides support for observations and experiments conducted by Kusaka Laboratory members and manages the observation equipment owned by Kusaka Laboratory.

Activities of the Observation Group

For newly joined students at Kusaka Laboratory, the group conduct workshops on observation techniques on irregular basis. In the past, the group has   conducted training sessions on heat observation and pilot balloon observations to measure upper winds.

In addition to basic ground-based meteorological observations, Kusaka Laboratory conducts a variety of observations and experiments, including upper level observations using balloons and drones, and physiological observations using human subjects. Information on the equipment used for these observations, such as the location, number of pieces, and model numbers, is listed and shared among the observation team. The number of equipment on the list exceeds400 units.

The Observation Team has been creating and updating observation manuals from 2010 to the present. The manuals not only include on how to use each piece of equipment, but also how to prepare a time schedule and observation plan, as well as actual experiences from Kusaka Laboratory members. These are extremely valuable resource for the members.
