William Lashmar

1865 -1890


William was born in Brighton on May 2, 1865 and became apprenticed to Matthew Dawson.

In a tragically short career, he won the 1884 Ayr Gold Cup (Perdita ll), the 1886 Liverpool Summer Cup (Perdita ll, dead-heat) and the 1886 Leicestershire Spring Handicap (Arcadian).

William was killed in France in a fall from Naaman in his first hurdles race at Lyons in July, 1890. He died within an hour of a spinal injury.
