Robert Leach

Robert Leach

Robert Leach had one success under National Hunt rules when Great Glen won the Mablethorpe Selling Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen on August 16, 1969. Making his debut over jumps, the eight-year-old gelding beat Exonerated, ridden by Ron Atkins, by two and a half lengths.

Trained by Arthur Balding, Great Glen was partnered by Robert in his next four starts but only managed one fourth place effort.

Robert had less than a dozen rides that season. He did not hold a licence for the 1969/70 campaign but renewed it for one more season in 1970/71. However, he did not manage to add to his solitary success.
