David Leadbitter


David, of 5, Holdforth Crest, Bishop Auckland, was apprenticed to Denys Smith and rode his first winner, Market Melody, on May 14, 1983 at Newcastle.

He first appeared on the racetrack riding Willie Gan at in the Auchinraith Apprentices Handicap at Hamilton on 6 April 1982, finishing unplaced.

David was retained by Mrs G. Reveley.

He won the Great St Wilfred at Ripon and the Hansa Lager Handicap at Redcar.

Riding for trainer M. W. Easterby, he took two mounts at Beverley - Cornborough and Tiger River - on May 15, 1987, and was not seen on a racecourse again.

David enjoyed snooker and squash.
