Michael Lynch

Michael Lynch was born in County Kildare and was just 11 when riding his first winner.

He came to Britain in 1860.

He won the 1876 Irish Derby on Umpire.

Michael's career ended when he was kicked at the post at the Curragh in 1880, fracturing his leg.

He afterwards earned his living as a trials jockey.

Michael died at Newmarket on August 8, 1918, aged 77. He left £112.
