During my project phases I learned a lot about Asian cuisines and the diversity in making of the food. It also gave me geographic knowledge about places in the world, there were some places I had never even heard about.
My knowledge also developed during this phase as to how different countries like Vietnam and Thailand are even though they are side by side just through the food. In my journey, I became more knowledgeable as an IB learner because of my research about Asian cuisines (styles and techniques). In my cookbook I had to create 7 of my own recipes which connect to the thinker attribute in the learner profile.
I used my pre-existing knowledge on Asian food cuisines including Indian, Singaporean, Japanese, Chinese and Korean food knowledge. I know there are a lot of places in Asia that make it seem like an easy topic to do. But because of the amount of techniques and types of food and spices there were it was very hard to incorporate foods into my plate. From the research stage itself I was surfing around the internet for new techniques and ideas that can be utilized for my cookbook. I utilized my thinking skills for my research and for the invention of the new recipe.
