Over the span of making my personal project, I have learned not only how to make a website, but I have also increased my knowledge and understanding of vedic maths. I have also learned many indirect skills like researching, picking up important information, and importantly, Time management.
For the product, I wanted to make a website about something that I am passionate about and something that I want to get better at. Therefore, I decided to make a website about Vedic maths, as it teaches me about not only maths, but also how India has contributed to maths.
The personal Project is a great part of the IB curriculum, where you get 5-6 months to show your talent and creativity, and are able to display a final product that conveys a person’s interests, emotion and talent. For me, the personal project allowed me to show my love of mathematics, and old Indian tradition. During the project, I displayed many different types of IB learner profiles. The main one being communicators. The reason behind this was because to make a website to teach other people, you need to have good communication skills to convey the message. The Personal Project also makes you show ATL skills, a major one being research. Research is an important part of the project as you have to learn and display a new skill.
