Through the process of achieving my goal, I have learnt about the history, origins and characteristics of pop as a musical genre.
I have developed three songs revolving around the themes of feminism, friendship, and coming of age in which I applied skills involved in song writing, arranging, tracking, editing, mixing, and mastering as components of music production.
Throughout the course of my personal project, I demonstrated and developed specific ATL skills in the process of learning about music production and creating songs. I sharpened my information and media literacy skills by investigating the history and characteristics of pop as a musical genre, and applying self-management skills to effectively keep track of time, maintain my emotional well-being, reflect on what I learnt, and bounce back from failure/obstacles during the process. Creating my product also challenged me to think differently as I conceptualized different instrumentation and themes for each song.
As a result, this project helped me extend my knowledge about an area of interest, which was music. My learning goal helped me acquire relevant skills in using Garageband as a music production software and increased my knowledge about pop music. During the completion of my songs, I felt a sense of confidence in completing an independent project and showcasing my musical ability.
