I've been able to deep dive into the idea of genealogy. This project gave me the opportunity to self-motivate and drive myself to bring forth pure satisfaction. The PP journey made me realize how each student approaches their learning. The initial thought was that of a family tree but I wanted to create something more unique so I dug deeper and finalized a coffee book. I wanted to map out/record my family's history through images. Being in the black and white effect in contrast to colored images to help the audience deduce the intention, also helped me in showing a chronological order starting from black and white leading up to the colored effect.
As this project of mine focuses on ideas/concepts that currently have a significant local connection, I have developed my knowledge on the same. Looking at what the world has versus what the world needs has helped me build my reflective skills. Another prominent IB learner profile that is most important for future impact is open-mindedness. I initially used to only critically appreciate my own cultures and personal histories, as well as the values and traditions of others. By the creation of this product, I am reminding each individual that family is the only community that looks at you positively at any phase in life.
I have understood myself better by connecting my existence with a past. When hearing stories of my ancestors I was able to relate family traits, cultures, and traditions that today I myself hold as values. The skills I learned and further developed while in the process of making my personal project will assist me in my future goals, as soft skills are required in any field or profession that one chooses to embark upon. It has challenged me by encouraging me to step out of my boundaries learn new qualities, understand my heritage, and remove any fears of all the above.
