I strengthened my self-management skills in terms of balancing my academics, personal life, and allocating appropriate time to my personal project. I also learnt how to be more communicative through several means, one of which was fashion. This aided me in communicating the goal of my product, which is to incorporate historical designs into modern clothing.
Throughout my journey of crafting apparel designs, I have developed reflective skills through self-analysis and seeking constructive criticism. I've also improved my observation and research skills while investigating current fashion trends, which has boosted the relevance of my product.
The Mughal Meets Fashion collection is a compilation of ten designs that showcase the beauty of Mughal design in a modern apparel focus, spanning from clothing to architectural designs from the Mughal era as detailing. Extensive learning, research, and creativity were used to create this piece. The clothing designs were built on the idea of being a source of personal and cultural expression, as I was able to combine my passion of fashion, art, history, and cultural heritage into a single collection.
The use of research skills was critical in the early stages of market research and reaching my learning goal, as was transfer skills through the design phase. This is where I subsequently implemented the IB profiles of inquirers, open-mindedness, and communicators by understanding the principles of fashion design, the history of Mughal design, and applying what I learned to create ten fashion designs. It is acceptable to claim that during the formative stages, I was knowledgeable and a creative thinker, as I was able to incorporate all of my learnings into a completed product.
