Through the process of achieving my goal, I have learnt the technological tools required to create a platform on Instagram, learn how to interview people will sensitive stories, learn how to respond to people's emotions and stories they share while talking to me and learn how to maintain and grow the online platform.
I have designed and published a safe space online that transforms COVID impacted students from schools around me to cope with emotions similar to the ones that may occur beyond the pandemic by providing credible resources to make them self reliant.
Going through with the idea of my personal project was definitely scary as mental health is such a sensitive topic. At the end of the day, I always knew this is what I wanted to do go ahead with, as it’s my way of helping people. Having interacted with over 47 people, helped me realize the importance of mental support and how many people actually need it. A lot of the people I interacted with were people I didn’t know and met them through my website and social media page. On the other hand, there were also a lot of people I knew and helped. It was eye-opening for me, because every day we try to neglect or push away the emotions we feel and eventually we disconnect ourselves from our emotions that we fail to observe our loved ones may be facing. I’ve been able to learn about how mental health issues are invisible. They can come to anyone at any time, and it’s on us to be aware of how we feel and how the people around us feel.
