Summer’s here! Please, if you fish where water temperatures are over 70 degrees, use barbless hooks, and bring the fish in and release them as quickly as possible.
You might want to look at the major improvement at Point Mountain. Urbani Fisheries reworked about 1.8 miles of the Musky in June creating deep pools and great new runs and riffles in heretofore flat, skinny water. There are already trout in the new areas.
While we have no membership meetings in July and August, we do have some fun-filled activities on our calendar.
On July 11 we will run a fishing derby at Weldon Pond in Jefferson. Only four members signed up. We need six or seven from noon until about 3:30 PM
On August 3rd we will have a booth at the Performing Arts Tent at the Sussex County Fair from 10 AM to 4 PM
Don’t forget the annual chapter picnic at Camp Mohican on August 15th. There will be great food and great entertainment.
John tells me that the Sparta Glen Brook Restoration project is moving along as planned. The DEP is doing the Technical Review of our Permit Application and serious fund raising is on-going.
Our next membership meeting is September 16th. Our speaker is Jack Skelley. Jack works for the New Jersey Devils and is a first class Canadian Salmon and Steelhead fisherman/fly tyer. Hopefully he’ll get everybody psyched for the coming salmon/steelhead season.
