Message from TU's Director of Youth Programs

Post date: Sep 18, 2013 6:30:26 PM

Good morning, Directors -

The youth staff recently surveyed 55 TU teen members, all of whom had attended one of TU's summer fly fishing and conservation camps. We did this survey to get a better idea of how to build a teen membership level that will exist between the younger Stream Explorers and the regular

adult membership.

Attached is a copy of the survey results. Survey #1 was given to a control group of 9 youth who volunteered to take the survey and provide feedback on it. Survey #2 was taken by 44 additional teens once we had the bugs out of the survey.

If a question was open-ended and required some writing on the part of the teen, all of those written comments show up toward the back part of the results. That is, if an answer does not have a blue bar or some percentages under it, then you will find the responses tabulated later on in the document. Be sure to scroll all the way to the end of the documents.

You all will no doubt find these answers interesting, especially as they show that the summer camps are playing a HUGE role in getting teens involved with TU. These surveys also demonstrate that the campers intend to stay involved with TU for the duration.

A big congrats to all of you for creating the next generation of TU!

Let me know if you have questions or need help decipering the results.

Cheers,

Franklin Tate
