Sand Balloon Ball

Uses

  • Use this as a fun alternative to a normal ball when practicing throwing and rolling skills.
  • Throwing and Rolling Cues
      • "Tick, Tock, Step, Rock"
      • "Step Opposite" (Step with opposite foot of throwing arm)

Construction Materials

  • Balloon
  • Filler (Sand)
  • Funnel

Instructions for Construction

  1. Blow balloon up with air and release air to stretch out the balloon before filling with sand.
  2. Wrap opening of balloon around the funnel.
  3. Fill with sand to appropriate level (see pictures).
  4. Tie off and design as desired.

Modifications of Equipment

  • Draw faces and/or designs on each ball to make it more fun!
  • Differentiate amount of filler depending on the skill of your child.
      • more sand = faster travel = harder to track
      • less sand = slower travel = easier to track
  • Find alternatives fillers if you don't have sand.
      • flour, cat litter, sugar, rice, etc.
  • Find alternatives if you don't have a funnel.
      • plastic bottle (cut off bottom or fill bottle with sand before wrapping balloon around the lid opening)
