These may only get you a couple pounds, but they are a great way to teach beginners the correct form and skills when working out and performing resistance exercises/lifts.
Construction Materials
Wet Sand
2 feet of PVC (bigger diameter = holds more weight)
4 PVC caps (for that same diameter)
PVC primer and cement
Scale (optional)
Instructions for Construction
Put a cap on one end of the pipe.
Fill with sand and weigh on scale to desired weight.
Cap off the open end.
Modifications of Equipment
Use strong tape around the edges if you don't have PVC caps.
Use other fillers such as rocks, dirt, concrete, water, etc.).
Teach your learner to warm-up BEFORE exercise and stretch AFTER exercise!
Teach your learner to focus more on the FORM of the lift rather than the WEIGHT of the lift.
Poor form can be dangerous and discourage future exercise!
