Use this piece of equipment to practice tracking and catching an object with another object.
It can be difficult for some learners to learn to catch an object without physically feeling it with their body, this serves as a great opportunity to practice that.
This can also assist learners who have difficulty gripping to catch an object.
Construction Materials
1 Gallon milk jug
Tape
Yarn or string
1 Ball that can be tied to a string (whiffle ball, yarn ball, etc.)
Instructions for Construction
Cut a few inches off the bottom of the jug to create a complete opening.
Tape around the cut edge for safety.
Cut a 2-foot piece of string.
Tie a knot on one end of the string.
Unscrew the lid and place the knot inside the top opening.
Screw the lid back on, so the knot will not be able to pull through.
Tie the other end of the string to the ball you wish to use.
Play!
Modifications of Equipment
Put designs on the jug for fun and motivation.
Use a longer string to challenge higher-skilled learners.
Use a smaller and/or skinnier jug to challenge higher-skilled learners.
Play catch without the string attached with a partner when the learner is able to successfully and consistently catch when using the string.
