PVC Hurdles

Uses

  • Hurdles are a unique exercises that allows learners to practice jumping and leaping skills.
  • These are a great addition to obstacle courses, too!
  • This PVC tool is a much safter option than the sawhorses I used as a kid!

Construction Materials

  • PVC Pipe (diameter and lengths depend on the needs of your learner)
  • 4 PVC 90 degree elbows
  • PVC primer and cement (optional)
  • Measuring Tape
  • Marker
  • Saw (Ask the store to cut them for you if you don't have one!)

Instructions for Construction

  1. Decide on appropriate lengths before you cut the PVC.
      • The horizontal bar can't be too wide!
  2. Construct the hurdle according to the pictures.
  3. Add sand or other filler to the legs on the ground to help support the hurdle up-right (optional).
  4. Avoid gluing the corners if you would like to make the hurdle taller in the future.

Modifications of Equipment

  • If you don't have the time or resources to make this tool, simply use empty bottles and tape a stick or pool noodle across the top of them!
  • Wrap pool noodle around the structure for more safety.
  • If you've alrady created the "PVC Ladder Golf" tool from this site, take the top 1 or 2 rungs off, and use that!
  • If you've alrady created the "Pool Noodle Soccer Goal" from this site, use that!
