COMMUNICABLE DISEASES AND PANDEMIC MANAGEMENT

PURPOSE
Trentham School is committed to a positive approach in dealing with any serious communicable diseases. In the event of a communicable disease outbreak the school will be guided by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health.
DELEGATIONS
The board delegates to the principal as officer the responsibility to:
develop and implement health and safety procedures
ensure employees have the information and professional development they need in order to comply with policy and procedures.
GUIDELINES
The principal takes advice from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health when dealing with communicable diseases and pandemics.
Information about immunisation will be collected upon enrolment of children to school.
Appropriate emergency supplies will be stored on site, including personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face masks and gloves.
Workplace cleaning practices are to be constantly monitored for highest possible standards.
The School has an action plan which it will follow in the event of a pandemic being declared and will be managed by the principal.
The Principal Board of Trustees may decide under their delegation to close the school if it feels the health & safety of staff and students warrant it or if directed to do so by the Ministries of Education and / or Heath.
Advise the presiding board member (chair) of any emergency situations as soon as possible.
