GUIDELINES
Assessment will be purposeful, varied and use a range of assessment tools, observations and conversations. Formative assessment is a key tool in the learning process.
Planning, administering and analysis of assessment will occur regularly. It will provide feedback & feedforward on progress against goals and expectations and be used for future teaching and learning programmes and for reporting purposes. Ongoing monitoring of progress will inform next steps for all learners, and will enable close monitoring of target students and students requiring learning support.
Assessment will be administered and recorded as outlined in the Trentham School Assessment guidelines and schedule. School wide assessment data will be entered into eTap. Moderation of assessments will take place at Hub, Syndicate and School level to develop consistency of judgements.
A balance of knowledge, attitudes and skills will be collected, including key competencies through the school’s GROW vision principles.
Assessment information will be collected in a variety of ways including teacher observation, student work samples, teacher/student learning conversations, written or orally administered assessments.
Students are to be included in the assessment process to encourage ownership and reflection of learning.
Assessment outcomes will be recognised and celebrated:
- between learner and teacher
- collectively with peers
- with parents, caregivers and whanau through informal and formal means.
