In this project, the goal was to focus on negative space. This was new to me because usually I work on the positive space inside of what I draw. For my main piece, the leaf piece, I added a lot of color in the negative space to make it stand out.
The specific materials I used for this negative space project were graphite pencils, sharpie, and water color paints. I don't usually use water color paints but I thought it was the right material for this project.
Drawing only the negative spaces was a little hard because you can' add any lines on the inside. For my leaf piece, I collected six leaves and organized them so their were at least five negative spaces. After copying the outside lines of the physical leaves, I outlined them and decided to use water colors for the actual negative space. A big part of this project was space because it revolved around the negative space. My project defiantly evolved because it was looking very plain and boring and I didn't want to put zentangle in the negative space so when I added all of the color, it defiantly added some story to this piece. My next steps for this piece could be adding something over the colors because there can't be any added lines or patterns on the inside of the actual leaves.
