Graphite pencils, watercolors, colored pencils, sharpie

9" x 12"

This piece was made to inspire people to become organ donors. I like the idea of hands reaching out to one another because it gives the idea of unity and tells people that we can all help each other out. For this piece, I was hoping it would achieve a simple vibe as well as a little more detail regarding the hands. I like the way it turned out in the end with the background and the heart being simple while the hands are more realistic

To make this piece, I used Graphite pencil, watercolors, colored pencils, pencils, and a sharpie. I used graphite to sketch out my original design and lay the basics down before I added watercolor. The entire background and the base color of the hands are all painted on with watercolor. While using the watercolor, I used a lot of water in order to make the colors really light. I used colored pencils to add details to the hand and give them an outline. My last step was to use the sharpies just to add the words.

It took a lot of thinking to come up with this project. I didn't want to just search up a phrase on the internet, so it took a while to think of one myself. I didn't do too much research online but I did look back on my art portfolio to explore what I liked drawing in the past incase it sparked an idea. I decided to draw hands because when I looked back on the pure contour project, I had liked the way it turned out. For the actual hands, on my project, I just looked at my actual hands and drew what I saw onto my piece. I think this project was for a good cause and I enjoyed creating it.
