The Vase
Canvas, acrylic paint

The main idea of this work is to really bring out the colors. The assignment was to create 84 colors and I wanted to make the colors stand out and be the main focus of the piece so I decided to make the background completely black. It is inspired by an old vase that I used to have in my house that definitely didn't have this much color but the structure is similar.
To make this piece, I used a piece of blank canvas, and sketched out my idea on it. I drew each little triangle shape into it which took a while. It also took me a while to fill in each shape with the different colors because I had to make so many different colors for just a tiny amount of space. Some of the colors were slightly transparent so I had to add many layers to some spots. The easiest part of this piece was painting the back ground because I only had to do one layer of the black paint. I estimation of how much of each color I needed to use was actually pretty accurate and I ended up being able to fit every single color in my vase.
Having to make 84 different color seemed very overwhelming at first, but as I was making them, I realized that it was easier then I had expected, it was just very time consuming. I took me a little while to come up with the idea for this, but I wanted to make the subject something real instead of a design made to include all of the colors. I think my original idea and the final project are pretty similar. The only big difference from the original idea is how i made the background all black.
