Whether you are a parent, educator, or both you know at times it is difficult to manage everything all at once. At times it feels you are being pulled in multiple different directions because so many people or situations need your attention. You want to be there for your children yet you have a career/job to maintain to make sure their needs, such as food, clothing, shelter, are provided for. And sadly most jobs don’t care that your children really need you sometimes. Add on top of that trying to get a little me time in and your day is always booked. All of this can lead to burning out if you aren’t careful.
Yes, there are many parenting and self-help book that talks about this subject but since the problem is different for everyone there is no one size fits all way to fix it. No one can tell you exactly what to do to fix it, not even me, so I am not even going to try. However, I will give you a little encouragement. First and foremost, what is your reason for getting up in the morning? Is it your children? Is the fact that you love your job? Is it some else entirely? Now, this may seem a little strange to ask these questions but it is needed. When times are difficult it is those reasons that will always keep you going. There are mornings that I am sure you have to remind yourself of these reasons and that’s okay because we all know some days are easier than others. Now I am not going to say that doing this will magically make everything better but it will put things into perspective. It will give you a point of motivation to keep on going.
