It’s time we start having the difficult discussions on the topics of racism, bullying, and bias in our schools. Far too many students are being targets of hateful messages due to their race, religion, or being a part of the LGBTQ community. This must stop as we can not allow society to continue this path of division and hatred. It’s important that educators be culturally sensitive as well as have training in ways of guiding students through culturally sensitive issues and content. It’s a great idea to allow parents the same training as it will allow them to work through the issues with the students at home. This can help create a dialogue for everyone to help to the bottom of these very difficult issues.
