The Montessori Method is different from many pedagogies. It uses child development as a guide which allow for social-emotional develop to go hand and hand with academic skills. This method starts with the classroom environment. The classroom is set up with easy to use materials that can spark the students imagination and creativity. The materials are set up in different centers so the students can practice the skills whenever they want. The Montessori curriculum is centered around child development. The curriculum allows the students to develop skills at their own pace. When the students have problems, whether academic, behavioral, or social, the teacher help guide them in the finding out the answer on their own. The students are encouraged to collaborate and work together with each other. They group the students in four different age ranges: younger than 3, 3 to 6, 6 to 9, and 9 to 13. This is to allow older students to help younger students.
