Taking the time to talk to kids is very important. When talking to kids we are building a relationship and helping them gain a better understanding of language. The relationship we build with kids is extremely important as it takes trust and communication. When we have talks with kids we are expanding on their knowledge, aiding in social-emotional development, as well as teaching them the give and take of communicating with someone. Actively listening is what allows this back and forth to be so successful. Communication also aids in children's language development. It allows kids to not only learn new words but the back and forth allow them to truly understand the words they are learning. When this occurs their vocabulary is strengthened.
